Register NOW for the 2023 Narrows Challenge!

The Narrows Challenge embodies the thrill of open-water human-powered craft racing. Experienced paddlers from the west coast converge on Gig Harbor, showcasing their prowess in kayaks, surfskis, SUPs, outrigger canoes, and paddleboards. Starting and finishing at Gig Harbor's entrance, the course demands mastery of tides and open-water conditions. Paddlers head south toward the iconic Narrows Bridge, skillfully maneuvering buoy turns before returning to the finish line. As a prominent tourism attraction, the Narrows Challenge draws paddle enthusiasts, energizing local businesses and highlighting Gig Harbor's water-sport fervor.

Date: Saturday, October 14, 2023

Location: Gig Harbor, WA
GETTING TO THE START: From Highway 16 follow signs to downtown Gig Harbor.

There are public launch sites at Skansie Brothers Park, Eden Boat Park, Ancich Waterfront Park, Gig Harbor Boat Ramp. After you have launched, paddle to the harbor entrance near Lighthouse Point.  Start and Finish will be across from Lighthouse Point. Further instructions provided in pre-race instructions.

Event Categories: Choose from various event categories, including Kayak, Surfski, SUP, Outrigger Canoe, and Paddleboard.

Race Distances: Compete in a range of distances including 5k, 10k, and 20k

Entry Fees: Early Bird Registration: Per person $45 / Teams of 6 or more $225.

Registration starting October 7th: Per person $55 / Teams of 6 or more $275.
